Silonque
Sisters Farm
- an interaction with Nature and Culture Situated North of Phalaborwa, adjacent to the world famous Kruger National Park, the farm Silonque Sisters was a founder member of the Silonque Nature Conservancy. A wide variety of wild life exists naturally in close contact and at peace with a permanent human presence.Positioned on a high rise in the otherwise flat lowveld landscape, spectacular Sun and Moon rises are experienced. From the Main House, the archaeological site of Masorini Mountain sits like a mystical pyramid on the horison, in a constantly changing landscape of colours. Sunsets over mountains, 150 km away, form a wondrous part of the day. At night, you can experience anything from the dazzling display of millions of stars on a clear night, to dramatic thunderstorms, to windstill nights when the Lion’s roar tells you, you are close the heart of this fascinating Continent. The terrain includes a number of dry river systems, an outcrop of interesting rocks (koppie) typical of the region, natural crystals, stones and sands. Diverse plant life, including the famous Maroela and amazing Mopane trees, Knobthorn, Waggebietjie, Apple Leaf, Kannie Dood, Bush Willow, Tambotie, Leadwood, Rock Fig... a variety of flowers, grasses, herbs and ground covers... all co-exist under some incredible circumstances. |
